Cricket Clinic moves to St Thomas
The Supreme Ventures-sponsored Courtney Walsh Cricket Clinics moves to St Thomas this weekend.
This weekend's clinics will be held today and tomorrow at Heartease Community ground.
Last week, the clinics reported success in the western parishes of Hanover and Westmoreland.
In Westmoreland at the picturesque Paradise ground, the 20 youngsters had the benefit of working under Grantley Reid, one of Jamaica's most successful age-group coaches.
Reid who, at New Hope Junior High, has produced fifteen (15) national representatives, took the players through several drills.
The likes of pint-size offspinning all-rounder Ramaal Lewis and a 12-year-old batsman Shahid Crooks, who could soon add to Reid's number, along with Godfrey Stewart High's pair of all-rounders Kevon Williams and Ordian Dobson, were some of the impressive players over the two days.
Ashli Grant, a 12 year-old female from Enfield Primary impressed with her pace bowling.
In Hanover at the old Rusea's playfield, stand-outs in an enthusiastic group of mainly primary school cricketers were all-rounders Andre Ramgeet and Rossano Burnett of Rusea's and yet another promising young lady, Jerissa Johnson, an 11 year-old off-spinner from Green Island Primary.

Santos enjoyed two victories at the recently held Orville Edwards football festival held last Sunday at the Bell Chung Stadium.
In the Orville Edwards Cup contest, Santos defeated Real Mona 2-0. Kimani Preston, who struck in the 48th minute and Orane Sutherland in the 65th, handed Santos the victory.
Preston was later judged the game's MVP.
Vere Masters edged their counterparts from Santos 1-1 for the Orville Edwards Masters Cup.
Dwight Allen scored the game's lone goal in the 52nd. Allen, with his effort, was named man-of-the-match.
In the day's third game, Santos' Bell Chung Girlz defeated Constant Spring 2-0 for the Orville Edwards Women's Cup.
Onecia Bailey, who netted in the 26th minute and Tracy-Ann Hall in the 52nd, were the scorers for Santos Bell Chung Girlz.

Braeton to rebound against JEC
Braeton New Testament (BNT) will attempt to rebound from their humiliating 10-wicket loss to Power of Faith Seniors (PFMS) last week, when they play Jamaica Evangelistic Centre (JEC) this morning as action continues in the Power of Faith Ministries' Twenty20 Church Cricket League at the Lime Tree Oval, at 9:30 a.m.
In the feature match at the same venue, semi-final bound PFMS, currently on six points, from two matches, will try to top zone one, with a victory over Old Harbour New Testament (OHNT) at 1:30 p.m. Both JEC and OHNT, are winless and a loss will virtually eliminate them from the competition, as only one semi-final spot remains in this group.
Leeds rule 'St Bess'
Leeds United of St Elizabeth are still celebrating, after a double strike from Kirk Wright, former Premier League player with Reno FC, gave them an emphatic 4-1 win over Super Action for an easy 6-2 aggregate win, to snatch their first hold on the St Elizabeth FA Wray and Nephew Major League title in the second-leg final at the Appleton Estates Sports complex on Sunday.
Wright, now 32 years old and who many people had written off as being too old and overweight, scored two spectacular goals from close range in the 27th and 50th. Defender Christopher Salmon opened the scoring in the 4th minute from the penalty spot and Nicholas Thomas in the 52nd minute, while Merrick Howard got the consolation in the 78th minute, also from the penalty spot, his third goal in three games.
He scored the lone goal in the 2-1 loss in the first leg where Wright got a brace in the 46th and 48th minute.
The win means that Leeds, who were also runners-up in the mid-season final, will now advance to the South Central Super League.
In a one-sided affair where referee O'Neal Watson issued six yellow cards and one red card, Leeds were in control of the game quite early.
The Santa Cruz-based team had taken the lead after ace striker Wright was brought down inside the 18-yard box and Salmon was on target with a grounder which beat Roxroy James in goal.
Wright, who was playing with a thigh injury he sustained from the first leg, made it 2-0 in the 27th minute and struck again five minutes into the second half. He was substituted in the 58th minute.
Leeds continued to dominate through their standouts, captain Eddie Wright, Dwayne Williams and Salmon. Thomas put the icing on the cake after he pounced on a miskick to slam past the Super Action custodian.
For their effort the champions were presented with the large Major League trophy and $150,000 while the runners-up will get $80,000.
In the third place play-off, New Holland, who whipped Middle Quarters PYC 5-2, walked away with $40,000. Middle Quarters collected $20,000.
