The Vagina Monologues for Mandeville
The group Ladies Who Dare will present a benefit performance of the critically acclaimed The Vagina Monologues in Mandeville, Manchester, tonight to raise funds and awareness to end violence against women and girls in Jamaica.

What are The Vagina Monologues?

'Funny' and 'poignant'

Hailed by The New York Times as "funny" and "poignant" the dramatic performance was first performed off-Broadway and dives into the mystery, humour, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women's experiences. Creator Eve Ensler has performed the play to great acclaim throughout the world.

The Vagina Monologues will be performed at Bloomfield Great House, 8 Perth Road, Mandeville, tonight. Tickets are $500 and may be purchased (or reserved), by phoning 489-6837, or e-mailing Mandevillemonologues@gmail.com.

The show is being brought to Jamaica by Sharon Martini, an American born to Jamaican parents overseas. Martin told The Gleaner that she hopes the production will help women and men understand the importance of stopping violence against women and girls. Martini will also be taking part in the show.

In tandem with The Vagina Monologues, Martini and Treasure Beach Women's Group (TBWG) Benevolent Society will present a Congo teach-in event on April 21, at Treasure Beach, Calabash Bay, St Elizabeth.
