Jamaica's Under-21 netball team is aiming to whitewash their England counterparts, when they face off in today's final match of the three-Test series at G.C. Foster College, starting at 6 p.m.
The Jamaicans triumphed 49-33 and 43-29 in Monday's and Tuesday's games, respectively, to take an unassailable lead and coach C. Lloyd Walker believes that if his team plays a good game, then they will complete the sweep.
"We will be coming out to play good netball and once we do this, then we can definitely win the game," said Walker, who expects a tougher contest.
"The ball is round and I am certain that the England team will be doing their homework on us so as to avoid us beating them again on Thursday (today)," observed Walker, who is also the coach of the Berger Paints Super League contenders Jetsetters 'A'.
"I am looking for another strong game from England because I know that they will be making all the necessary adjustments and they will be coming out fighting against us," added Walker.
This is the first series victory for the junior Sunshine Girls under the tutelage of Walker, who took over from Janet Guy, who resigned two months ago.
The team recently lost another tri-series, 3-0 against Australia, last month at G.C. Foster College.
Series whitewash
Jamaica's goal shooter Crystal Gordon, who has proven to be more than a handful for the English defenders, along with captain and goal attack Christina Solmon, and their outstanding goalkeeper Sasha-Gaye Lynch, are all expected to lead the young Sunshine Girls to their first series whitewash in two years.
England's coach said her team will be looking to avoid the whitewash.
"We will definitely be looking to bounce back because we came here to win and we are also focused on the girls improving on their performances," said Mayes.
The English youngsters will be relying hea-vily on goal shooter Jo Harten, defender Eboni Beckford-Chambers and wing attack Serena Guthrie to lead them to a consolation win.
Both teams are using the series as part of their preparations for the World Youth Netball Championships, which will be held in the Cook Islands this coming August.
