Western Bureau:
Champions Jamaica ended their 2009 WICB Regional Four-day Championship season on a winning note yesterday afternoon, when they defeated Guyana by 139 runs in their game at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay.
The Jamaicans were presented with the George Headley/Everton Weekes Trophy, symbol of regional supremacy, after the game.
"It is nice to be champions once again and it is a special pleasure to end the season here in Montego Bay on a winning note," said Jamaica's captain Tamar Lambert.
"Full credit must go to the players and the coaching staff because it was a very long season and it took a lot of hard work to win."
Resuming at their overnight 215 for seven with Brendan Nash on 40 and Odean Brown on one, the Jamaican second innings folded inside the first hour of play as only 33 runs were added for the last three wickets, as the innings ended at 248 all out - an overall lead of 329. Batting a second time, Guyana were dismissed for 190.
