There seems to be an airport security breach as US$3,000 worth of things went missing from my suitcase when I was travelling from Jamaica to Tortola last week on American Airlines and I have to say never have I been so upset.
Consumers who are paying for their flight and have to go through ridiculous security measures still come out the losers. I say this because four very valuable items were missing from my suitcase during this travel (camera valued at US$1,500; a watch valued US$1,200; a pair of sunglasses valued at US$150 and my flat-iron valued at US$150.
Shabby
While I am very much peeved at losing these items it scares me to think that the security is so shabby that someone could just as easily put items in my suitcase without my knowledge. It makes one wonder how many innocent persons have been incarcerated because of these airport breaches.
I am not allowed to put padlocks on my suitcase because it is a 'security breach'. But I have to say I will put padlock on my suitcase going forward because I cannot afford another US$3,000 loss and will most definitely not be running the risk of airport personnel being able to put unwanted items into my suitcase.
The airport needs to put in better security measures for their consumers' benefit as what the airport is providing is a great risk to the travellers.
I am, etc.,
