
Three central schools, Manchester High, Holmwood Technical and Edwin Allen High left Nestlé Jamaica Limited's headquarters, Knutsford Boulevard, St Andrew, on Tuesday with $500,000 in prizes.
Prizes were presented to the schools for their performances in the inaugural five-race Milo Junior Grand Prix Series, which had clashes in 100m and 4x800m for boys and girls.
The Series started on January 31 at the St Elizabeth Invitational Track Meet and ended at Central Champs on March 13.
Points were awarded to individuals and teams. Edwin Allen's Gayon Evans and Manchester High's Brandon Tomlinson emerged as the 100m winners.
Both athletes won $100,000 each for their schools, Evans finished on 44 points and Tomlinson, 40 points.
In the 4x800m for females, Manchester High won the final four out of five relays ahead of Holmwood Technical High School who won the first relay.
Manchester totalled 58 points to Holmwood's 52 out of a possible 60 points. Manchester High collected $150,000 for their win.
In the 4x800m male category, Holmwood Technical were the big winners, taking all five races ahead of Bellefield to end on the maximum 60 points and $150,000.
Trophies were presented to all 10 athletes who represented their schools and the three coaches who guided the winners.
The athletes are Manchester's 4x800m female quartet - Kimberley Brown, Neisha Morgan, Charlene Brown and Natoya Goule; Holmwood's 4x800m males - Jermaine Blake, Wayne McIntyre, Andre Headley and Kevin White and Edwin Allen's 100m competitor Gayon Evans.
The coaches are Michael Dyke (Edwin Allen High), Jerry Holness (Manchester High) and Edward 'Eddy' Hector (Holmwood Technical).
