McLeod backs U-15s to defend WI crown
Ephraim McLeod, manager of Jamaica Under-15 team, believes that despite the team's relative inexperience, they should be able to retain the WICB Clico Under-15 title, which they won last year in Dominica.

The 14-member squad announced on Monday includes 11 new players.

The three players from last year's title-winning bunch are Tacky High batsman, John Campbell, Wolmer's High batsman, Delbert Gayle and St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) pacer, Brian Gayle, who is the team's captain.

McLeod confident

McLeod, however, is not perturbed. In fact, he is confident that the Terrence Corke-coached unit will return from the championship with more silverware.

"I think we have a good chance of defending our title. It's going to be a challenge, but I think the boys have talent and coach Corke has been doing a wonderful job with them," said McLeod.

"At this level you hardly know who you are going to meet, in terms of their level of development. We will just have to go there and be on top of our game."

The tournament will be played among six regional teams on a limited overs round-robin basis.

LEAVING ON SATURDAY

The Jamaicans will depart on Saturday for the April 6-12 tournament in Trinidad and Tobago.

SQUAD: Tezwayne Creary (Holmwood), Raghni Francis (York Castle), Brandon King (Campion), James McDonald (Jamaica College), Manquino Mindley (STETHS), Patrick Palmer Jr (Wolmer's), Ashan Plummer (Excelsior High), Roberto Smith (Glenmuir), Aldane Thomas (Holmwood), Navoir Waysome (STETHS), Oshane Walters (Manchester High), John Campbell (Tacky High), Brian Gayle (STETHS), Delbert Gayle (Wolmer's).
