Time for PNP change
The Editor, Sir:

I wanted the People's National Party (PNP) to win the West Portland by-election on March 23. however, this was not to be and this was a hard pill to swallow. I wanted to see the back of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) government because I believe the party is not prepared to lead Jamaica.

The JLP continues to blame the previous government for almost all its failures since it took over. As such, I am not convinced that Bruce Golding is capable of leading Jamaica, especially at a time when the economies of the world are going through a recession.

However I don't even think the PNP is ready to regain power either. The PNP needs strong leadership; the PNP needs a leader to take it back to the principles of our founding fathers.

It is sad that in 2009 there are a lot of Comrades, and more so a lot of Jamaicans, who do not know what the PNP stands for anymore. The PNP needs to get back to the party of my grandparents which puts education first and the party which fights for the rights of women and the poor.

Leadership change

Over the years the PNP has become an election machine for winning elections, and as soon as they win they forget about the Comrades who voted for them. No wonder today we are in opposition. I am a supporter of Portia Simpson Miller but I strongly believe that she is not ready to return to Jamaica House as the prime minister.

It is time for a change of leadership in the PNP.

I am, etc.,
