One to Watch: Boys' & Girls' Champs

Name: Jazeel Murphy

Date of birth: February 27, 1994

Class: Two

School: Bridgeport High

Events: 100m, 200m

PR: 10.42 (100m), 21.69 (200m)

Main rivals: He names defending champion, Calabar's Travis Drummond, as the 200m danger. In the 100m, Munro's pair of Adams Cummings, who beat Murphy in Class Two last year, and Renaldo Reid, who was second in Class Two in 2008, are seen as the main contenders.

Last year's performance: Murphy captured the 200m (22.62) and finished second in the 100m in 10.97.

Expectations: Despite stepping up in class, Murphy expects to win the double while targeting the 100m Class Two record of 10.34 held by Yohan Blake.

NOTE: Following his showing at the Carifta Games where he notched two personal records, Murphy must be highly fancied for the double at Champs. His favourite tag is based on his 10.42 and 22.58 to win the 100m and 200m, respectively, at the Carifta trials. Drummond was second in 22.87 in the 200m.
