CHARLESTON, South Carolina (CMC):
Jamaican defender O'Brian Woodbine has signed for the United Soccer Leagues (USL) First Division side Charleston Battery for the 2009 season.
Charleston Battery added three players to their roster last weekend, with Woodbine being joined by midfielders Kenji Treschuk and Tyler Hemming, pending US Soccer Federation (USSF) approval.
Latest jamaican addition
All three players featured for Charleston in the recent Carolina Challenge Cup.
Woodbine joins the Charleston Battery from Jamaican Premier League side Reno FC and becomes the latest Jamaican to be signed up by Charleston. That Jamaican list includes former international Linval Dixon and Omar Daley, who now plays for Bradford in the English League Two.
Treschuk is originally from Hawaii and Hemming is a former Under-20 international for Canada.
The Charleston Battery's 2009 home opener is set for Saturday, April 18 against the Montreal Impact at Blackbaud Stadium.
