In a top-of-the-table showdown, Harbour View defeated Boys' Town 2-1 in Digicel Premier League action at Collie Smith Drive yesterday.

Harbour View maintained their lead by advancing to 57 points. Portmore United, who started the day joint leaders on 54 points, were playing Sporting Central Academy in the late game at Ferdie Neita Park last night. Boys' Town, who began the day at third, remained on 47 points.

Jahmali Spence opened the scoring in the third minute. But Peter Keyes, one of the league's leading goalscorers, added another goal to his list in the ninth minute, giving Boys' Town the equaliser.

However, Spence restored the visitors' lead in the 20th minute as he went around goalkeeper Philmore Crumbie in the six-yard box and scored.

Reduced to 10

In the 78th minute Harbour View were reduced to 10 men as Richard Edwards was given a red card. Donovan Hayles, assistant coach of Harbour View, said: "I think you can dub it as a battle royal. The fight on the field was with passion and a sense of pride from both teams. Boys' Town played some good-quality football and we did well, especially in the first half."

Boys' Town's assistant coach, Herbert 'Dago' Gordon, said: "We had all the opportunities in the world to finish the game.

"Harbour View did not outplay us even though they won the game, but if we are not capitalising on the opportunities we get we are not going to show our real potential."
