It is ironic that a population which holds the greatest base for any economic revolution is the main reason for the contraction. Ghettos and garrisons inevitably feed their own economic anaemia by reason of their operations.
An area that is hostile to members of opposing parties will never be the marketplace for the exchange of goods and services.
There is no unalterable law that a ghetto cannot be the fountain of production for a country. Extortion, fear and exploitation might be the main hurdles to cross. If the ghettos were areas of friendliness, fairplay and peace, even foreign investors could be arriving in them one after the other. And the good thing is, the manpower may be adequate. Similarly, if the garrisons would abolish their walls, the economic surge of the nation would be remarkable.
As things are, the rich will become richer and the poor, poorer since those who are financially able, will keep investing in safer spaces. It may be that some forces want to keep things as they are, however, ghettos and garrisons are fertile areas for economic prosperity.
