Mighty takes top job at COK

Mighty

Jacqueline Mighty, a chartered accountant with more than 24 years in management, finance and accounting, has been appointed general manager of COK Co-operative Credit Union Limited.

She replaced Brenda Cuthbert on February 7.

Mighty, who joined COK in 2006, previously served as deputy general manager in charge of special projects. She was financial controller at the Jamaica Observer before going to COK.

Her new role entails developing and managing the overall business strategy of the credit union - the leader in its class in assets - to strengthen its position in the marketplace.

Gordon quits PIOJ

Gordon

The Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) is searching for a new head of its planning and research division, following last Monday's indication from current divisional head, Dr Peter John Gordon, that he would be stepping down from that post and leaving the agency as of April 25. Gordon gave the PIOJ no reason for his decision to quit.

Gordan now on leave, joined the PIOJ as planning and research head in November 1999.

Dr Wesley Hughes, PIOJ's director-general, could not say precisely when a new head of the planning and economic research division would be named.

"It's a very lengthy procedure and the post can either be filled internally or externally," Hughes said.

"If there is a suitable person in the Institute, we will do so. If not, then we will look externally."

In the interim, Taylor Spence, manager, social policy and planning, has being given the responsibility for the leadership of the division.
