Alison Hinds, known as the soca queen, never failed to satisfy the appetites of soca lovers with her chart-topping hits and of course, her famous 'roll-it-gal' moves. On stage she captivates the full attention of men and women, with her energetic and interactive sets.
Just recently, Hinds was featured at Bacchanal Fridays, held at Mas Camp in New Kingston and she didn't disappoint. Performing for over an hour, she owned the stage and delivered in full force. As in previous years, the soca queen is definitely in her element this year with hits such as Drop it, Bumpers, Soca in Me Body and more. We caught up with her and asked the following:
What book are you reading now (or the last book you read)?
I just finished reading Eric Jerome Dickey's, Dying for Revenge. I have all his books and right now I am reading Just after Sunset by Stephen King.
Whose CD are you listening to now?
It was a CD given to me when I was in Trinidad by Kes the Band. It is their CD named On in 5. But on my Ipod I have a workout mix consisting of soca with medium tempo. I listen the mix to work out when I am on the wave and epileptic machines.
Where was the last interesting place you visited?
I am here now, so I would have to say Jamaica. Oh I love everything about this place. The food, the vibe, and of course, the people who I come in contact with; they are all so warm. I also love the energy of the place, the mountains (chuckling), because in Barbados it's so flat. Jamaica is a beautiful island. I have been to Kingston, Negril and Ocho Rios and I have to say Ocho Rios is my favourite.
