The Jamaica Karting Association (JKA) is currently in negotiations with its Barbados counterparts to finalise arrangements for the locals to compete in a two-day race meet.

The event, dubbed the 'Barbados International Meet', is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26, at the St Phillips Circuit in Bushy Park.

Representatives from Trinidad and Guyana are expected to match their skills with their Caribbean counterparts.

"They (Barbados) have invited us and we have responded," said Dave Wong, president of the JKA. He, however, cited some hiccups which he was hopeful would be sorted out.

"There is a problem with the class and the type of karts they race ... but we are trying to work out something," Wong said.

Wong also said that provisions for rental would have to be made for locals with gearbox/shifter karts.

The Barbados event comes three months before Jamaica's meet which has attracted interest from the region as well as North America.
