Finance group keeps the deaf close to heart
PAPINE, St Andrew:

The 65 students and 28 staff members at the Lister Mair Gilby School for the Deaf are happy about the visit they got from the Capital and Credit Financial Group.

Principal Vendeta Souza McKenzie said it was a pleasing encounter with the group that has being donating to the school's maintenance since 2003.

The principal said the financial group had donated more than $140,000 and affirmed that the aid was appreciated.

Capital and Credit's Rylan Campbell said the donations were a labour of love and would continue.

He said the group would also continue to give to other worthy causes and Lister Mair Gilby would remain in the group's plans.

Campbell said the visit was made to see what else the entity could do to make the lives of those at the school better.

McKenzie said the school was partly funded by government and got many of its student, 13 to 19, from the St Christopher School for the Deaf in St Ann, and Danny Williams.

The Lister Mair Gilby School for the Deaf began in 1966.
