A look inside the ECS Elite Group 945GCT-D personal computer fitted with the Atom.Atom PC is the bomb
The first time I heard about an Atom processor that Intel was building, I thought to myself that it would be an experimental weapon of mass destruction that would blow your wallet and your peace of mind.
To my relief, the low-powered processor was really smaller than the average computer processor. After doing some background checks, I found out the core behind these processors.
Introducing the Atom
I'm going to try and keep this as simple as possible. Manufacturers tend to follow trends and then make products to follow footprints on the consumer radar.
Today's technology consumer trend is compact and lightweight. Even men with big egos are willing to say they're small and proud of it. It's the market that birthed the Atom processor, which is so small that it has to be built-in on most motherboards that come with it. This processor is teensy, it offers the oomph to power any PC to perform its normal functions with no stress at all.
Why Should I Care?
I have three important letters for you: JPS (Jamaica Public Service). Wow, what an impact those three letters cause these days because everyone is trying to cut their electricity bill below their multi-digit mortgage.
This processor and the motherboard that comes with it use significantly less power than regular processors and motherboards. Besides sapping less power and reducing the pocket poundage of your electricity bill, it also saves you space.
The cases you can buy to pull together a complete system with an Atom processor, DVD burner, motherboard, and so on is extremely small compared to a normal system case size. They are so small that you can carry them around in a backpack without any worries.
Will it work with my old stuff?
Most persons think that when you upgrade your personal computer, their precious data will disappear. Let me put your mind at ease by saying you can use the same hard drive that you have in your old system without any problems at all, thus solving the problem of lost data. Also, an Atom PC is just as reliable as any other PC. In fact, most popular computer manufacturers like Dell have already started building really stylish PCs using this same Atom processor.
Final Thoughts
I want to trim my light bill, so no later than this week I'm purchasing the ECS Elite Group 945GCT-D motherboard that comes built in with an Atom processor, and a small black case that can fit in my bookshelf. Savings, here I come!
