The management of the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) has advised that a glitch in the hospital's oxygen supply has been resolved temporarily and that measures have been taken to implement long-term solutions.

Elective surgeries have reportedly been cancelled at the facility because of a lack of oxygen there.

"The nature of the problem is a situation whereby for some time there have been occasional fluctuations in the required oxygen pressure to operate relevant equipment in the main operating theatre," David Dobson, acting CEO of KPH, said.

"The service providers have been working round the clock to diagnose the problem and recommend solutions. This has been an extremely long and tedious process."

The management has, therefore, taken the decision to install a temporary alternative supply of oxygen until the main source is fixed.
