Orthodox hypocrisy
The mistake Deacon Peter Espeut made in writing the column 'Double standards, mixed messages', is the blanket assumption that Christianity is somehow respected or, in some way, special to Jamaicans. Even though he doesn't directly says it, he seems to believe it is our national religion. How far from the truth the has fallen.

Jamaica's national religion is 'Orthodox Hypocrisy' although some in leadership positions might be "fundamentalist hypocrites" and a select few have taken on the ultra orthodox traditions of "radical hypocrites".

With this in mind, none of the contradictions mentioned in his column should be surprising.
