Give praise where due
The Editor, Sir:

Everyone likes a pat on the back when they do a good job. Jamaican police officers, public officers and civil servants are no different. As a former civil servant, I know from experience what it is like to see theft and corruption taking place on a daily basis and the problem one faces when efforts are made to stop taxpayers' money from going down the drains each year.

I would like to congratulate Superintendent Ezra Stewart of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and the director of public prosecutions (DPP), Paula Llewellyn, and commend them for doing a good job by trying to rid the JCF of corrupt police offers who for years have brought the organisation into disrupt.

Worthy of commendation

I would also like to ask Jamaicans at home and abroad who have received good services from any of our government departments or know of public officers who you feel are worthy of commendation and would like them to know that they are doing a good job, that you contact the employee's supervisor or government department and pass on said information.

It would be good to include all the information you can remember such as the employee's name, the date, the time and circumstances of the incident.

I am, etc.,
