Kudos to 119, C-Spring cops
The Editor, Sir:

On Thursday, January 29, about 7:45 p.m., my car was stolen from me at my gate by two men, who sped away. Naturally, I was very shaken up and envisioned the total loss not only of my car, but also my handbag, which was on the passenger seat.

Luckily, I had my cellular phone in my pocket, so I immediately called 119. Corporal Ricketts answered and quickly relayed my information to the officers on patrol, at the same time reassuring me that he was confident the car would be found quickly. He kept in touch with me until, to my amazement, within approximately 20 minutes, he telephoned to inform me that the car had been found and that I should go to the Constant Spring Police Station where the car would be taken by a wrecker. I cannot express my relief and joy at that moment!

The team

At the station, I met Constable Craig Reid and Sergeant James, the officers who intercepted the robbers and retrieved my car from the Charlton Gully, and Detective Corporal Armstrong, who took my statement. Unfortunately, the robbers got away. However, after being dusted for fingerprints, my car was returned to me the following day with my handbag, minus some cash and phonecards, a minor loss compared to what could have been.

I would like to commend Corporal Ricketts of 119 and Constable Craig Reid and Sergeant for their swift action, for which I will be forever grateful.

Because of the never-ending adverse publicity meted out to the police force, I could not let this incident pass without recording my satisfaction for a job well done!!

I am, etc.,

D. R.
