Beenie for Belize

Beenie Man - File

Belizeans are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the 'King of the Dancehall' Beenie Man tomorrow to launch the Belize Reggae Fest Series. Produced by American-based promoters Triple T Productions and Nuffmuzik Productions, Reggae Fest is the very first entertainment series dedicated to bringing top-tier Caribbean performers to Belize on a regular basis.

"The response has been amazing," states Triple T Productions CEO Tasz Smith. "I have been in Belize for a little over a week now and everyone is buzzing about the show. Ticket sales are going extremely well. Belizeans have always been great supporters of Caribbean entertainment; unfortunately, the access to top-level entertainers is limited. I am really glad that we [Triple T and Nuffmuzik] decided to launch the Belize Reggae Fest Series and bring the best of the Caribbean to Belize."

Beenie Man, who will be in Belize for the first time in nearly four years, is equally excited about launching the series. The inaugural Belize Reggae Fest Series event, featuring Beenie Man, Anthony Cruz, DJ Andrew D, Dyema, and special guest artiste D'Angel, will be held at the Civic Center in Belize City.

Ce'Cile sows Seeed in Germany

Ce'Cile - File

The 'Bad Gyal' has kept tongues wagging since first breaking into the Dancehall scene with the self-produced, shockingly refreshing and thought-provoking Changez. Now with an upcoming album, Waiting, Ce'Cile heads off to Germany this month for a series of shows with German reggae superstar Peter Fox.

Fox is currently number one on the German charts. After being on the album charts for four-and-a-half months, Fox won three Echo Awards for Best Hip-Hop/Urban Album, the Critics Award and Producer of the Year. Fox is the former lead singer of Germany's most successful Reggae Band Seeed, but has eclipsed the success he had with Seeed by selling more than one million units (and counting) of his debut solo album, Stadtaffe (City Ape), which was released on September 8, 2008.

Ce'Cile will open for Fox on six shows, including one at the biggest indoor concert venue in Germany, the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, which holds 16,000 people. The tour will see Ce'Cile performing to crowds of between 9,000 and 16,000 and news from Germany is that most tickets have already been sold.
