Leaders Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) suffered their second defeat in the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association Claro Super League competition when they went down 2-0 to Cavalier at Constant Spring Sports Complex on Saturday.

The soldiers are now tied at the top of the standings with August Town on 26 points.

Cavalier have now moved up to third place in the standings on 24.

Meanwhile, Santos moved into fourth place on 23 points by edging Mountain View 1-0. Real Mona (18) stopped Bull Bay (22) 1-0, August defeated Liguanea United 2-0, Duhaney Park (18) played to a 1-1 draw with Police National (8) and the game between Maverley-Hughenden and Constant Spring also ended 1-1.

90th-minute goal

At the Excelsior High School, a 90th-minute goal from Marvin Morgan carried Santos to victory over Mountain View.

The losers dominated the first half but they were let down by poor finishing from Dominick Brett, Troyland Williams and Tyrone Ereckleton.

Santos came out looking the better team in the second period and were finally rewarded when Morgan out-sprinted two defenders and fired home from close range.

Carlton 'Spanner' Dennis, coach of Santos, was grateful.

Hard game

"It was a very hard game because this is a local derby and I know that Mountain View always try to beat us whenever we play them. But we were able to get all three points from them and I must give thanks for this," he said.

Dennis added: "Our aim is to win all of our games in this second round because I don't think that we have been outplayed in the games which we have lost this season.

"However, we still have a few things to work on and we are definitely going to do them in this round."

Jahmiah Pettigrew, captain of Mountain View, said: "I think we lost our concentration in the final moments of the game and this cost us to lose the match."

Pettigrew added: "We have been losing our matches in the last 15 minutes and I don't know why we choose to give up goals at the critical point because we have talked about this in training."
