First crush

We all have had them, our first crush. We asked our readers to send us the stories of their first crush (before the age of 13) and they obliged. Here are some of the stories.

I was about six years old when I was bitten by 'puppy love'. This boy had the most charming smile and captivating eyes. When I turned seven, I was supposed to be the flower girl at my cousin's wedding. You'd never guess who the ring bearer was ... yep, him.

At the rehearsal, he took one look (perhaps shy) at me and ran off and hid himself and cried. Thinking it was because he was to walk with me, it broke my poor little heart.

On the day of the wedding, my dress was a small version of the bride's and, in my little childish fantasy, I thought we looked perfect together.

Interestingly enough, after the wedding, we became friends. One awesome day when I was eight, a spectacular event changed my life. My aunt was cleaning the church and I fell asleep on one of the benches. Suddenly, I was awakened by a tender peck on the lips ... oh yes he did! With my heart racing, my eyes flew open and I looked right into his brown eyes.

Surprise, surprise ... I didn't expect a kiss and he certainly didn't expect me to wake up that moment. Well, he gave a quick smile and fled the scene.

Today we are best friends.

My first crush was when I was five years old. I was in grade-one at prep school and sat beside this boy whose name was Maurice. We got close and developed a liking for each other. We liked each other so much that we just could not keep our lips off each other. We would kiss every time the teacher turned her back in the class, and when she wrote on the board ... chups, chups, chups is all we did. We didn't care if the other children saw us. Maybe they didn't, because we never got in trouble.
