Former champion jockey Shane Ellis rode four winners on last weekend's nine-race card at Caymanas Park to emerge The Gleaner's Performer of the Week.

His winners included 5-1 chance ROYALTY in the 16th running of the Hot Line Stakes over 1200 metres.

Ellis also won the first race aboard 4-5 favourite FOREVER MINE, on 9-2 shot MYRTLE WAY in the third and the 3-2 favourite COLLEGE BOY in the closing event over 1000 metres straight. ROYALTY and FOREVER MINE were both conditioned by champion trainer Wayne DaCosta while MYRTLE WAY is trained by Neville Cooper and COLLEGE BOY by Dale Murphy.

The jockey was seen at his best aboard ROYALTY who came with a terrific last 100-metre run to catch and beat 9-1 shot C'EST MOI under two-time champion, Trinidadian Brian Harding.

Ellis is now third in the jockeys' championship with 12 wins from 61 rides going into the last raceday in February. Champion jockey Omar Walker leads with 20 winners with Paul Francis next on 13.
