Usain Bolt, the world's fastest man, headlines today's Gatorade/The University of the West Indies (UWI) Invitational track and field meet at the National Stadium.

The meet, set to start at 9 a.m., will attract over 2,000 athletes from the nation's top clubs, MVP and Racers, along with high schools; but most attention, like last week's Camperdown Classic, will be on Bolt.

Winner of the Olympic individual 100m and 200m titles in 9.69 and 19.30 seconds, respectively, along with the sprint relay (37.10) gold medal, all in world record times, Bolt opened his season last week with a 46.35 seconds clocking over 400m.

He is down to run today at approximately 6:50 p.m.

Bolt is looking forward to his second 400m race in two weekends.

After last weekend's race, he said: " I am not really in the best of shape, but I'm happy I got through it. I am just looking forward to next week (today's UWI Invitational).

"I will be running a couple more 400m races, but I will only concentrate on the 100m and 200m this season," he said.

Prospects

Another of Jamaica's biggest prospects, Jermaine Gonzales, who made a late withdrawal from last week's Camperdown Classic, will also be in action today.

"I was down to run, but my coach Mr Mills (Glen) believed I should wait another week ... So, I will be competing in the stadium (today), at the UWI meet, and that is what I am looking forward to now," he said.

The events down for contention are: 100m, 200m (clubs and institutions), 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m (female/girls), 5000m (male/boys), 4X400m relays (clubs & institutions), long jump (open), triple jump (open), high jump (open), javelin (open), shot put (U17, U20 & open), discus throw (Cl. 3 girls, U17 & U20), pole vault (open), while the obstacle events are in the form of 70mH, 80mH, 100mH, 110mH, 3OOmH, 400mH.
