Donovan Pagon and Tamar Lambert hit half-centuries as a workmanlike Jamaica captured first innings points in their seventh round West Indies Cricket Board Regional four-day match against the Windward Islands yesterday.
Pursuing the hosts' 261, Jamaica finished on 264 for three on the second day of the encounter at the Windsor Park Stadium.
Pagon, who played two Tests against South Africa in 2005, top scored with 81 while captain Lambert was unbeaten on 75, as they ensured Jamaica kept the Windwards in the field all day.
They combined after lunch to stifle the Windwards attack in a stand of 101 for the third wicket, which put the visitors on course for a big total.
Great partnership
The right-handed Pagon struck 11 fours off 163 balls, while Lambert hammered 10 fours and a six in his knock.
Resuming the day at 15 without loss after early morning rain forced play to start an hour late, Xavier Marshall and Brenton Parchment added 44 for the first wicket before Marshall fell just before lunch for an attractive 35-ball 27, which contained six fours.
Parchment combined with Pagon, however, to add 81 for the second wicket and take the visitors to a position of strength after the lunch interval.
The 26-year-old Parchment, who has also played two Tests, hit 44 from 120 balls with six fours before he was second out with the score on 125.
When seemingly on course for three figures, Pagon perished in the final session but there was to be no revival for the Windwards as Wavell Hinds (15 not out) shared an unbroken fifth-wicket stand of 38 with Lambert.
