Honest Shortwood students

The Editor, Sir:

I write this letter to commend some students from the Shortwood Practising and Junior High School. On Thursday, February 19, six boys from the school were walking home at about 3:40 p.m. and found two handbags. They were near the location of my office and took the bags to the security guard posted at the entrance to the premises of my office.

Security guards

Thompson, the security guard from the Jamaica Central Security Association, immediately called the police. Unfortunately, the police were not very helpful as they claimed that a car would be dispatched; however, to date, there has been no visit from the police.

One of our drivers, Clive Smith, sat with the boys and congratulated them for their honesty, while Thompson took the handbags to me in the office. I checked through the bags and found a passport and some banking information for the owner of one of the handbags. I called the bank, National Com-mercial Bank (NCB) and spoke to a customer-care representative.

I wish to commend the customer-care representative from NCB, who went beyond her duties and patched me through to the young lady who informed me that her car had been broken into on Paddington Terrace and her handbag, as well as her sister's, had been stolen from the vehicle.

I write this letter, Sir, to make one statement: There is still honesty in Jamaica!

I am, etc.,
