Having been around for approximately 11 years, Serenity Park is an attraction that is, regrettably, unheard of by many locals. Nestled in the stillness of Spring Village, St Catherine, it offers a tranquil paradise waiting to be found.
Just more than a half-hour's drive from the capital, the family-oriented environment comprises a zoo, three man-made lakes, a bar and restaurant and much more.
To enter, adults pay a mere $250 while children only pay $150. The entrance fee also allows patrons the choice of fishing in the lakes, and your catch of day can become a mouth-watering meal (at additional cost).
However, if you're too dazed or reluctant to fish, a charming boat ride will do you some good.
The property is also resident to a variety of wildlife. The ducks are lords of the lake and peacocks and hens roam freely, making sure to strut their feathers at passers-by. A number of birds are housed in cages; different species and vibrant colours will be a sight for sore eyes. Interact with llamas, water buffaloes and even boars and allow yourself to become one with nature.
A treat for your senses

A crocodile shows his chops.
But that's not all. Serenity Park is more than just a treat for your visual senses; you can also partake of a delicious meal in airy ambience. Just take a walk across the bridge to the Pelican Bar and Restaurant for some well-cooked chicken ($300), oxtail ($500) or fish ($400).
However, bookings have been dwindling, causing a significant strain on finances. The fall-off in business has led to the discontinuation, in recent months, of several of its recreational activities such as horse riding. The facility has also sustained severe damage from storms and hurricanes.
For those who haven't had the opportunity to bask in the delightful oasis that is Serenity Park, take a short trip town to Spring Village near Bushy Park, St Catherine. It should provide a fun day out with family, friends or your heart-throb.
