Love is all about give-and-tech
Stephanie Lyew, Gleaner Writer

Everyone dreads the idea of a long-distance relationship. Though the thought of not seeing your spouse every waking moment might scare you, with today's technology you can find creative ways of sharing special moments such as Valentine's Day together.

Capture every moment

It becomes easier to forget great experiences you shared. Even though it might annoy you, thinking about memorable moments is something you love to hate. Take a picture of yourself leaving the toilet seat up or getting up for a late-night snack might just make them laugh .

Scan all the possibilities

Let your partner be part of your daily endeavours. Scan a page of your favourite part of a book that you may be reading, a speeding ticket you may have got that ruined your day or something as sweet as a drawing of your handprint.

You'll feel as though you are near each other, rather than going through the humdrum of email and text messages.

Music to your ears

Music is therapeutic. During stressful times alone, listening to sweet melody will help to set the tone. Sharing your MP3 playlists with each other is a fun way to show that you are doing more than just randomly listening to tunes. It conveys your mood at that time and place.

Picture your life together

If you know you two have a future together, stop living in the past. Whatever happened in the past that might have ended up in a disagreement can make your future stronger. It's the result and memories that count. What better way is there than to get a digital picture frame that holds all those special moments together.

Voice everything

Communication is not just about text via Messenger. Hearing what the person has to say matters. While typing up a storm about a problem you might be having halfway across the world, voice travels way faster than text and always manages to hit the right note. Invest in a voice recorder or microphone to make the Messenger interaction that more resounding.

Space warp

Perhaps you guys have been thinking of going on a trip together or just a simple dinner date but your schedules just haven't connected.

Now that Valentine's Day is here, it's even more frustrating. Why not try something as creative as having dinner at the same time and see each other doing it. Set the table, light the candles and switch on your web cam.
