Recipe for a hot and spicy romance

If you died and went to heaven after eating these strawberries dipped in melted chocolate from Guilt Trip, it would be worth it. - Peta-Gaye Clachar/Staff Photographer

Valentine's Day is a perfect opportunity to make the man or woman of your heart feel extra special. But let's be honest, not all of us are pros, and in this economic recession, our financial resources are limited. So Flair is here to tell you all you need to make this Valentine's Day an unforgettable one - on a budget.

Night of romance and love

Ingredients

A bottle of wine (non-alcoholic is an option)

Scented candles

Soothing background music (make it something nice and slow)

For men: (Roses are a must and you don't need a whole dozen. They are sold on Hope Road for $100 each).

Dinner (if you know your way around the kitchen, start the cooking process early. If not, there's no shame in take-out, but make sure it's his/her favourite dish or something he/she really likes).

Chocolate and/or strawberries (Chocolate Dreams: 946-3043-4 has chocolate-covered strawberries at a reasonable price).

Massage oil (there are some that become warm when applied, and some that are edible).

Method

(1) Set the table for two for dinner by candlelight.

(2) If there are children around, arrange to have them stay over at the grandparents' or tuck them in very early.

(3) Make arrangements to have your mate out of the house until the last minute (friends can be your best allies in arranging to keep things a surprise).

(4) Keep strawberries chilled until the last minute.

(5) Transfer meal from take-out boxes to the best china in the house. Reheat if necessary.

(6) Make sure lights are dimmed or off. The candles should be enough and they are essential to setting the mood.

(7) After dinner, enjoy a slow dance before dessert.

Dessert

Start with the strawberries then continue with massage oil and follow where your imagination leads.
