The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) disciplinary committee handed out a number of fines at its meeting on Tuesday.

Eight Digicel Premier League players were summoned by the committee for various infractions. The majority were actions deemed by referees as violent conduct or abusive and foul language.

Dwayne Hunter of Rivoli, who had missed his previous meeting, was fined $1,000 for his infraction and has already served a two-match ban meted out to him. Dennis McKinley of Arnett Gardens was fined $2,000, while his teammate Andrew Phang was admonished and fined $500. Both had also missed previous meetings of the committee.

Missing footballers

Deveron Clarke of Waterhouse and Lovel Palmer of Harbour View were both missing from their meetings. Clarke, charged with foul and abusive language aimed at an assistant referee, sent no explanation for his absence, while Palmer is currently in Norway on a trial with newly promoted IK Start. Palmer was charged with insulting and abusive language aimed at an opponent and a teammate.

Arnett Gardens' Severo Murphy was before the committee after his dismissal from a game in which he used foul and abusive language towards the referees in a threatening manner. He was fined $1,000 and suspended for four matches. He has already served one of these.

Violent conduct

In acts that were deemed violent conduct by the referees, Roland Dean of Tivoli Gardens was fined $1,000 after he was sent off for hitting the goalkeeper in a match against Waterhouse. Nicholy Finlayson of Reno was also fined $1,000 and suspended for two matches for his actions in the match against Arnett Gardens. He has already served one match of his suspension for striking an opponent when the ball was not in play.

The final two cases dealt with violent conduct that took place during an Under-21 match between Sporting Central and Arnett Gardens. Christopher Graham of Sporting Central was not able to show up because of transportation problems, as explained by his club manager, but Craig Hunter of Arnett Gardens was fined $500 and suspended for one match, which he has already served. Graham and Hunter were fighting.
