What are the criteria for Lasco awards?
The Editor, Sir:

I sincerely congratulate Lasco for their sponsorship of the Teacher and Principal of the Year awards, as published in The Gleaner on January 29.

However, I would like to know, who were the other nominees? Also, I would like to be assured that the methodology used for their nominations discouraged manipulation and personal campaigning.

With respect to the Principal of the Year awardee, his/her school should have an educational environment that is commendable, or at least showing signs of significant improvement.

Were the stakeholders canvassed? That is, the board teachers, students, parents, Parent-Teacher Association (if a truly active one exists), the Ministry of Education and the community in general?

I am, etc.,
