Two rifles, 500 rounds of ammo discovered

WESTERN BUREAU:

A joint operation yesterday between the St James police and the Jamaica Defence Force led to the discovery of more than 500 illegal rounds of ammunition and two assault rifles.

Senior police officers said that an intensive investigation has been launched into the find. "This was an intelligence-driven operation and we are proud of the haul we have made," said one senior policeman.

The operation took place in Belmont district and during a search of a house, the guns and ammunition were found. No one was arrested in the operation.
