I must commend and thank the principal of Ardenne High School, for being the voice of the few who are disgusted and disturbed by the x-rated lyrics of Rampin Shop.
I am a 17-year-old student of one of Kingston's prominent high schools and am myself exposed to this explicit music because of its constant air play.
In my opinion, this song should not have been allowed to be played at all by the media, much less to become a number one favourite song in the country. Now what does that say about our society and our future?
Society's silence
In addition, I am astonished at the way in which some adults promote and embrace this song, as well as how children respond favourably to it.
Our society has become too silent about the many airing of filth and and truly until a firm stand is taken against these dancehall artistes that con-tinuously promote sex, violence and the demeaning of women, then our society and our future generations are in for great destruction.
I am, etc.,
