Rev Dick's critique too narrow
The Editor, Sir:

Responding to Pastor Dick's article about the governor general-designate and his acceptance of the office, I find him to be rather narrow in his criticism.

You see, Christ, who is our universal example on how to address such issues, was confronted with something of a similar nature and when presented with the coin bearing Caesar's likeness, he deftly parried the Pharisee's veiled attack by declaring, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and unto God the things that are God's." He certainly did not try to place the kingdom of heaven as the only goal and responsibility of man.

Yes, Pastor Dick, it is possible for an ordained pastor (such as Patrick Allen) to follow the supreme example of Jesus and mingle with the Pharisees of Jamaica.

I am, etc.,
