MoBay CC cool Cambridge

Montego Bay Cricket Club ended Cambridge CC's unbeaten run in the 2008-09 St James Senior Cup cricket competition, when they registered a big 161-run win in one of four third round games played in the eight-team competition on Saturday.

In the other games, Roehampton CC spanked Granville by 147 runs in their game at Roehampton; Orange CC defeated Overton by five wickets at Orange; while many-time parish champions Riahs CC had their first win of the season, beating Farm Heights by 27 runs at Jarrett Park.

Took a hiding

In their game against Montego Bay CC, which was played on their home turf, the Cambridge team fielded first and took a hiding as their opponents scored 215 all out with Roland McKenzie, who top-scored with 48 and Dalton James and Nick McFarlane, who got 34 and 22, respectively, scoring most runs.

Ricardo Scott, with three wickets for 38 runs and Julian McFarlane, three for 51, were the main wicket-takers for Cambridge.

In their turn at bat, Cambridge fell prey to accurate bowling by Ricardo Green and Clyde Tugwell and slipped to defeat at 74 all out. Scott top-scored with 34 against Green's four wickets for 24 runs off five overs and Tugwell's three wickets for 10 runs off four overs.

At Roehampton: Roehampton batted first against Granville CC and scored 275 for eight declared as Ricardo Dewar 68, Oswald Jones 45, Delroy Lecky 39 and Kemar Parker 34, all got among the runs. Devon Keen, with three wickets for 14 runs and Oswald Thorpe, three for 76, got most wickets for Granville CC.

In their turn at bat, the Granville team crashed to defeat as they could only manage 128 all out. Neil Williams and Mark Williams, with 38 and 28, respectively, were the top run-getters against Job Walters, five wickets for 40 runs and Ricardo Dewar, three for 13.

At Orange: Overton, batting first, made 136 all out with Vinard Woodcook 49, Ewan Andrews 28 and Eswick Colquhoun 17, getting most runs as Everald Dyer, who grabbed four wickets for 27 runs and Oniel English and Andrew Walker, who had three for 18 and three for 23, respectively, did the damage.

In reply, Orange rushed to victory at 137 for five with Leon Thomas 50, Carl Tinglin 30 and Vinroy Crooks 21, getting the bulk of the runs.
