GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC):
West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) director Chetram Singh fended off a stiff challenge and won yet another term as president of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB).
Singh topped his rival Bishwa Panday 15-12 in the GCB poll during the annual general meeting at the Georgetown Town Cricket Club on Sunday afternoon.
Singh thanked Panday for serving Guyana's cricket and vowed to continue his work to develop the sport in the country.
"There are many things to be completed including an indoor facility and the (GCB) hostel," Singh said after his reelection.
Singh's decision to contest the election was a reversal of his previous declaration that he had decided not to continue as chief administrator.
He only decided to go for a remarkable 10th term in charge after what he described as "incessant calls and the pleas" for him to continue as GCB boss.
Singh has been GCB president for the past 17 years.
