Lewis quits as Windwards skipper
PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC):

Rawl Lewis has quit as Windward Islands captain following his side's heavy defeat to Trinidad and Tobago, in their third-round WICB Regional Four-day match yesterday.

The experienced all-rounder made the announcement following the Windwards' 166-run loss at Guaracara Park, their second defeat in as many matches in the tournament.

"I have tried my best with this team and I have decided to give way to someone else," the 34-year-old told reporters.

"I really cannot explain why the team has been performing like this and probably they need a younger person to step forward with new ideas and take Windwards cricket forward.

"I remain committed to Windward Islands cricket and would play on once I am selected," he noted. "This team continues to depend on just a few individuals and this must change. The young players in this team must start to deliver and assist in taking this team forward."
