Village United shared the points with Reno in their Digicel Premier League clash on Sunday, when they drew one-all at the Elleston Wakeland Community Centre in Falmouth.

Village's coach, Paul 'Tegat' Davis, parted company as the expected miracle of saving the team - which has happened on numerous occasions - did not materialise this time and almost halfway through the season, the team is facing relegation as it sits jointly with Sporting Central at the bottom of the standings, with 15 points.

Reno are not far away with 18 points.

Village's vice-president, Pat Garel, is, however, positive.

"We will be announcing some new plans by the end of the week and we are positive that we will not be relegated," she said.

Troy Smith gave the homesters the lead when a scored a penalty in the 67th minute. The penalty was awarded after Reno's custodian, Dennis Taylor, went high to collect a ball in the fashion of a perfect karate flying kick, which almost comatosed Eddie Kingston, the Village United striker. Taylor was immediately given marching orders and the penalty given.

Reno spectators protested the decision, saying that the 'keeper was well within his right in going for the ball and it was a legitimate challenge. The protests led to a stoppage of the match for approximately five minutes.

Two minutes from full time, Reno scored the equaliser courtesy of Patrick Graham from a goalmouth melee.

Village missed a 'sitter' and chance to grab all the points when the ball, fell to Omar Allen, well-positioned at the centre of goal but just outside the penalty box. He hit a shot that had the 'keeper well beaten, but it went inches over the crossbar and drew the consternation of the supporters.
