Word to the Queen, please
The Editor, Sir:

I would like to make a suggestion to the governor general-designate regarding the people and citizens of Jamaica. While some people are concerned about what he may eat or drink, I am more concerned with the treatment of Jamaican citizens by the United Kingdom government, headed by the Queen whom he will represent.

Why do Commonwealth citizens need a visa to visit Britain? Why do Caribbean overseas British terri-tories like Cayman and Bermuda require visas from fellow Caricom citizens?

The actions of a few bad eggs should never result in biased and draconian laws to hurt all. I am asking Dr Allen to speak to the Queen to have this 'requirement' against the Jamaican people removed with immediate effect.

This has been one of my great disappointments with successive political administrators since the measure came into effect under the watch of former prime minister P.J. Patterson. Please fix it for us, Dr Allen.

Tear down walls

Our leaders should help to tear down the evil walls of separation that others have built because a few may have made mistakes. I speak as one proud Jamaican who has never broken any laws at home or abroad.

If Britain, the 'Big Mama', won't reverse that policy we should implement one that ask nationals of those Caribbean territories who require visas from us to entire their territories that they also be required to have visas to enter ours.

I am, etc.,
