Reggae Boyz still head CFU rankings
PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC):

Jamaica's Reggae Boyz have retained the number one spot in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) ratings in spite of a marginal decline in the Federation International Football Association Coca Cola ratings.

In the January FIFA Rankings released yesterday, the Jamaicans dipped one place on the world list, to 66th, and are seven positions ahead of Trinidad and Tobago, who gained two places to be 73rd.

Last month, the Jamaicans had vaulted 18 places up the world list - on the back of their Digicel Caribbean Championship success - to head the CFU ratings for the first time since June 2007.

There is no change among the top five teams this month, with Haiti at 100th in the world, still third behind Jamaica and T&T, with Digicel runners-up Grenada at number five.

CFU's Top 10

The Grenadians, beaten 2-0 by Jamaica in the Digicel Caribbean final a month ago in Kingston, had jumped 21 places up the world list in December, to re-enter the CFU's Top 10.

Barbados, 125th in the world, remain at number six and in the only changes to the CFU's Top 10 this month, Bermuda (131st) slipped from seventh to 10th, while Antigua and Barbuda (127th) moved up one place to number seven, as Suriname and Guyana gained slightly to be joint eighth, with a world rating of 129th.

Meanwhile, the USA, with a number 22 FIFA rating, are enjoying their fourth consecutive month as CONCACAF's top-rated side ahead of perennial top team Mexico, 26th in FIFA, followed by Honduras (40th) and Costa Rica (47th).

The Jamaicans keep the number five position in CONCACAF this month, with T&T sixth and Cuba seventh.

The 2008 FIFA Team of the Year Spain continue as the World's number one side with Germany at number two. There are no changes among the world's Top 10 with the Netherlands at number three followed by Italy, Brazil, Argentina and Croatia, with England eighth.
