The minister said that Shaggy's latest gesture will go a far way in bridging existing resource gaps and assist in raising the standard of health-care delivery at the hospital. More important, the assistance will help to strengthen the paediatric support system in Jamaica.
In highlighting the pivotal role played by the hospital, Spencer said the Bustamante Hospital for Children has shouldered the task of improving the quality of life of more than 60,000 children annually.
He pointed out that as the premier paediatric facility in the English-speaking Caribbean, the hospital also has a crucial role to play in raising the overall standard of critical care available to children in the region.
"It is the vision of the ministry for the Bustamante Hospital for Children to be a centre of excellence in the region. Shaggy's assistance will undoubtedly propel our plans in this regard," he said.
