Hines who, at the 1968 United States national championships in Sacramento, California, clocked 9.9 seconds for 100m, the first sub-10 run by an athlete, which was converted to 10.03 electronically, will arrive in the island next Wednesday for Saturday's meet, to be held at the Stadium east complex.
At yesterday's launch held at Alhambra Inn, Brian Smith, chairman of the organising committee, said they were very fortunate to have such an important person to grace the Douglas Forrest Invitational.
Apart from Hines, overseas entries have again come in from Cayman Islands, Bahamas and Curacao.
The day's activities will start at 8:30 a.m. with the 400m hurdles and end with the 4x400m relays at 5:55 p.m.
Other events on the card are the 3000m for girls, 5000m for boys, 200m, 800m, sprint hurdles and 1500m.
In the field, long, triple and high jumps, along with shot put, will be contested.
