The Editor, Sir:
There are many ways to encou-rage interest in the agriculture sector and I would like to suggest two.
A radio call-in programme 'let's talk agriculture' would allow more people to get information on farming practices while they are still in their own homes without them having to visit various Rural Agricultural Development Authority offices for the same. This would also help people to get information on growing their own crops for domestic purposes.
This programme should be broadcast in the afternoons or at nights to accommodate children in school, or adults who have the time at nights only. It should be repeated on weekends.
People from overseas should be encouraged to participate and work with locals and, over time, this would help in an expansion of the sector and create new jobs.
I am, etc.,
