Hope for Port Royal etc
The Editor, Sir:

If I were by some miracle to be made tourism developer for Jamaica, Port Royal would be part of my plan. I would link Port Royal, Milk River and Bath and downtown Kingston on a tour.

Kingston would be for the Institute of Jamaica museum, the National Gallery, the Ward Theatre, Coke Chapel and other historic churches. There would be a stop at the Jewish synagogue. (Remember, the Jamaican Jewish community is the second oldest in the Western Hemisphere.)

Tour

Port Royal would be for the underwater city, the pirate history, St Peter's Church, the fort, the story of Sir Henry Morgan. Four days spent in a fine hotel, perhaps in New Kingston, pointing out the magnificent mountains and scenery, perhaps a trip to a coffee plantation.

Then a trip through Spanish Town and the intervening sugar-cane fields, to a healing bath at Milk River. On the last day, I would go east to Bath and, on the way, visit Reich Falls and show off the breaking surf at Long Bay with the waterfall behind. Back to the Palisadoes and on to your plane trip back to the United States or Europe. A four-day trip, all on a conducted tour to show off the best of Jamaica. What a hope!

I am, etc.,
