NOTE-WORTHY

  • Samuda out of order

As Member of Parliament representing the people of Jamaica, I think Karl Samuda's comment about the 'Officer of the Contractor General (OCG) needing work' is rude, disrespectful, and downright out of order. He should be made to apologise immediately.

The Contractor General Act explicitly states that the contractor general is to monitor the award and the implementation of government contracts with a view to ensuring that such contracts are awarded impartially and on merit.

The circumstances in which each contract is awarded or, as the case may be, terminated, do not involve impropriety or irregularity.

Therefore, while the House of representatives manages the public purse, the OCG performs the role of eyes and ears to that dwindling public purse. So, as long as the Government functions and operates, the OCG will have work.

  • Captain and job seekers

I was a bit taken aback at the news of "... 600 job seekers turning up for

interviews for 10 vacant posts at the Captain's Bakery ..."

There are so many options available for the recruitment and selection of a short list of applicants, why would an experienced entrepreneur such as Captain

Horace Burrell choose such a potentially volatile process?

The goodly Captain and his company has made it to the front pages of the newspapers, along with prime time TV news coverage, but is it really worth putting so many desperate people at risk?

I look forward to hearing the rationale behind this.

  • Gay folly

From casual observation of homosexual couples, it is clear that one partner must behave as if he/she is of the opposite gender for a spousal relationship to exist. In same-gender relationships, one person behaves true to their gender and the other does not.

This is why it seems so easy for one individual in such a relationship to walk away and find a partner that is really of the opposite gender to replace the person he/she is with, who is only behaving like that gender. Therefore, even when two persons of the same gender get together, their relationship, in essence, is heterosexual.

The truth is: Psalm 24 vs 1, The Earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and they that dwell therein. and therefore Proverbs 19 vs 21, NIV, Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.
