Issue: Why meet with dons?
The Editor, Sir:

I was amazed to have read in one of your daily publications, where it was reported that the minister of national security said that dons reserve the right to present their opinions on the six controversial anti-crime bills that have been tabled in Parliament for debate. Did they recover illegal guns, stop extortion or supply information to the police? I really believe that they were a part of the problem back then and continue to be a part of the problem now.

Further, if given the opportunity they will remain a part of the problem in the future.

Instead of seeking the cooperation of these dons, also called area leaders, the minister should cause legislation to be put in place to outlaw dons and all members of criminal gangs, so that they may be treated as terrorists, whenever they cause death and mayhem.

I am, etc.,
