Godspeed, Ken Allen
The Editor, Sir

I had the privilege of meeting Ken Allen when I worked part time with The Gleaner from 2004-2006. As he retires, I just want to extend my deepest regards to a man who I saw as a rock in the Editorial Department.

He was someone whose quiet strength of character was always a stabilising force among his peers. His quiet dignity, yet piercing honesty, were the right combination of elements that made his presence such a treasure.

Thank you, Ken, for being an example to so many and for setting a standard for others to follow. I suspect that even though he is retiring, his pen has not, and I look forward to reading your 'voice' in whatever medium you choose to dispense it.

I am, etc.,
