Left: It's the season to be colourful, and that Latoya is. If you're larger on bottom, a dress like this is perfect.
Right: It's almost impossible to survive this time of year without a red dress.
Let's face it, we girls just love getting all dolled up in the season's hottest dresses at Christmas.
Whether it's a cocktail reception at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel or that special 'destination' party, looking your best is the ultimate requirement.
Remember, not all women are built the same, and despite what your personal style may be, not all dresses you like will be flattering on you. But don't worry, here are some tips to help you choose the best dress for you.
Bigger at bottom
If you're bigger at the bottom, bare your shoulders. This gives the illusion of width on top and balances your lower half.
Cinch your waist with a wide belt (only if you have a recognisable waistline).
Tent or drop-waist styles actually make you look bigger all over. Choose a dress with a flowing skirt; this will conceal your lower half.
Bigger on top
If you are bigger on top, go for a wide neckline. This is a great way to show a bit of skin without overdoing it on the cleavage.
If you're wearing a belt with your dress, make it the same colour as your dress as this will show your shape without you looking short-waisted.
Work a somewhat short hemline as longer-looking legs take focus away from your chest.
Curvy
If you are curvy, opt for a V-neck as this helps elongate your body. Make sure your dress goes in at the waist - it's the smallest part of your body. Not working? Add a belt!
